Why should you visit HONG KONG?

Officially known as the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, this is a dependency of the People's Republic of China. It was formerly under the United Kingdom until 1997, when its sovereignty was transferred to China.

With an enormous population of around 7 million people, it is among the most densely populated areas anywhere in the world. It is located on the Pearl River Delta, on the Chinese south coast. It is bordered majorly by the South China Sea.

Hong Kong is one of the most renowned and famous financial capitals of the world. It also houses numerous business houses and is a cultural hub in this part of the world. It is a metropolitan city where a m?lange of cultures, ideas, various ethnicities, cuisine, music, traditions and cinema occur. The local population is predominantly Chinese, but there are indeed a significant number of expatriates who form the minority.

Being situated just south of the Tropic of Cancer, Hong Kong has a subtropical climate. It is also a bit humid at times. The terrain is mostly hilly and mountainous, with just a quarter of the entire land area developed. The other portion, almost 40% of it is reserved as country parks and nature reserves.

The architecture of Hong Kong is unparalleled beyond comparison anywhere. It has the largest number of skyscrapers that can be found anywhere on the surface of the Earth. Hong Kong's skyline is dominated by the Two International Finance Centers, which tower to a height of 415 meters. The HSBC Headquarters Building is another one that is easily noticeable in the skyline. The other buildings include the Central Plaza, The Clock Tower, just to name a few.

The transportation system in this city is one of the best in the eastern world. There is a Double Decker tram, the only one in the entire world. The public transport system is very well connected, making it highly accessible for everyone. The rapid access train system, known as the MTR has over 150 stations and commutes millions of people daily in and around Hong Kong city. There is also the Star Ferry service that offers a panoramic view of Victoria Harbor for its 50,000 plus passengers.

The Victoria Harbor is better known as the Magical Victoria Harbor, is one of Hong Kong's major assets, and is a jewel that each and everyone just simply stare in awe and wonder no matter the number of times they come down here. People from all over the world come here to witness this piece of beauty. There are spectacular views of the Harbor which one will treasure throughout the lifetime. Travelling aboard a tram to The Peak or even to The Avenue of The Stars along the promenade f Tsim Sha Sui, will yield one captivating views of the harbor.

One of the most sought after shows is A Symphony of Lights, where 40 of Hong Kong's tallest skyscrapers put up a stunning and dazzling multimedia show that is extravagant beyond comparison. A nighttime cruise aboard a ferry or a cruise liner is all what is needed to get lost in the beauty of the place called Hong Kong.

Any trip to Hong Kong would be incomplete sans a visit to the world's largest outdoor seated Buddha in bronze, which is found atop the Ngong Ping plateau. The giant Buddha is found in the Po Lin Monastery. The external features of this statue including the way it is sculpted are such that anyone will be spell- bound on first viewing this wonder. Just about 15 years old, this statue was unveiled in 1993, after construction processes on it underwent for 10 long years. This monastery has now turned out to be a must visit place on all tourist itineraries and people irrespective of religion throng from world over to have a glimpse of this wonder.

One of the most famous attractions in Hong Kong is the Ocean Park, which was opened to the public in 1977. It features numerous enthralling rides, exhibits and also natural conservational facilities. Another important feature of the Ocean Park is that it is home to Sea Jelly Spectacular, which is home to over a thousand different types of Jellyfishes. Entering the aquarium gives one an immense pleasure unparalleled to get being in close connections with one of the most wonderful marine creations.
